Toyota GT-86 Shooting Brake Concept

Toyota Australia just revealed a Shooting Brake concept version of the already successful FRS also known as the GT-86. This one-off unique, hand-built prototype looks much like the current version of the coupe, but it sports an elongated hatch-style trunk and roof that is very much functional. The rest of the car still features that sporty, agressive look. Although this will likely stay as a concept car, it's interesting to see how versatile the GT-86 is, in terms of design.
According to the press release, Toyota wanted to develop this car for a specific target audience. Brad Cramb, Toyota Australia's divisional manager, claims that "The Shooting Brake concept is a classy option for active couples or a second car for families who want something different. Equally suited to weekends away as well as the track, its a car you could buy with your head and your heart." By the looks of it, the Shooting Brake GT-86 would fit very well for those who want a sporty car, but also want more practicality such as having extra room in the car and carrying more load.
Even though we were never given details about the car's performance and internals, we can safely assume that it will be very similar to the current coupe from this statement. "The nicely weighted and direct steering of the 86 ensures the car retains the involving drive experience of the coupe with a slightly more neutral feel in tight corners on a driver's favourite road."
Let's just hope they change their minds and develop a production version!
