We all knew Koenigsegg will dance big at the Geneva Salon and they did, because besides the Agera RS, they brough some big guns, or gun.
It's the Regera model and I have to say that Koenigsegg really stepped up the game with this car. What would you say if i told you that they want $1.9 mil for a car that doesn't have a gearbox - technically speaking.
All is because the V8 5.0L engine is mated with other 3 electric motors, hooked directly to the rear axle, throught a direct drive, which completly removes the multitude gears of conventional gearboxes or CVTs. The KDD system, how it's called, is responsible for this, it's basically an electric engine for each rear wheel and the third one for the crankshaft, giving torque-fill, electrical generation and start motor function.
All in all, the car produces over 1500whp and it's capable in reaching 400km.h in under 20s, 150-250km.h in 3.2s and sprinting to 100km.h takes 2.8s.
Sure the KDD system isn't the only hot feature, the car also features “the world’s first fully foldable, active, top-mounted rear wing” and it's the only car in the world that controls all it's closures automatically, which can be operated by the smartphone.
Regera will be built to a limited number of 80 units.
