2018 McLaren Senna

Remember the P15 codename? Well, here it is, McLaren is presenting us their new hypercar which isn't out to replace the P1 - that's another story, for another time.

So, what makes it special? In few words, it's an extreme road car, the most extreme car McLaren ever got out and the design sure expresses it. The car is an extension of the 720s' platform an chassis, but with a wider track, huge air intakes and an all-so dramatic rear wing.

Being McLaren, you could expect all sorts of techie gimmicks, like active aero both front and rear, computer controlled suspension with Kinetic roll system ( K-damper ).

Power wise, it's capable of developing 789HP from a 4.0L twin-turbo V8, placed behind the driver, combine that with a raw weight of 1200kg and you get 650HP/tonne, the company doesn't comment about on-road performance, but a 100km.h sprint is expected to be around 2.5s.

Complementing the state of the art suspension and being able to put all the power on the road, Pirelli has done a bespoke edition of PZero Trofeo R tires.

Inside ( which you can see from the outside as well, due to the glass in the doors ), there's the race bred seats, carbon fiber trims and probably the most interesting part is the Folding Driver Display, which is borrowed from the 720s. McLaren says that if the customer wants, they can replace the glass panels with carbon fiber panels, which will probably take away the exclusive charm.

Now for the price, McLaren asked for £750,000 with all taxes, but seems all 500 units have been sold, one of them being auctioned and raised £2 million.
